Drawer is a desk designed to question the way in which we conform to organisation. Its permanently extended drawers aim to expose and encourage clutter, allowing the desk to become shaped by its user. Based upon research undertaken, it works upon utilising an organised chaos approach to the working environment. Manufactured in Oak its main structure aims to celebrate traditional methods of joinery. It is designed for those within the design field, as well as those looking to personalise their domestic office space.
Drawer works upon theories explored which highlight the benefits of disorder in an environment so predominantly controlled by order. Research undertaken found that certain levels of mess can enhance the creative thought process allowing for the generation of new solutions. Primary research in the form of an observational exercise paralleled these theories, where levels of clutter were found to contain imagery or visual data required which was deemed beneficial to the working environment.
